Gordon E. Gouveia is an attorney at Shaw Gussis Fishman Glantz Wolfson & Towbin, LLC. Mr. Gouveia concentrates his practice in corporate reorganization and bankruptcy litigation, representing debtors, creditors, committees, trustees and lenders in chapter 7 and 11 bankruptcy proceedings.
After graduation from law school, Mr. Gouveia served as law clerk to the Honorable Eugene R. Wedoff, Chief Judge of the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Illinois. As law clerk, Mr. Gouveia had extensive exposure to complex bankruptcy issues, conducted research and drafted rulings for a variety of chapter 7 and 11 business bankruptcies, including the United Air Lines bankruptcy case.
Mr. Gouveia is a 2004 graduate of Vanderbilt University Law School where he was on the Dean’s List and provided pro bono legal services at the Vanderbilt Business Law Clinic. Mr. Gouveia was also a member of the Vanderbilt Journal of Entertainment Law and Practice in which he published, Making a Mountain Out of a Mogul: Jeremy Bloom v. NCAA and Unjustified Denial of Compensation Under NCAA Amateurism Rules, 6 Vand. J. Ent. L. & Prac. 22 (2003).
Mr. Gouveia currently serves as co-chair of the Chicago Bar Association’s Young Lawyers Section Bankruptcy Committee.
Erica Tukel Wax has been a Judicial Law Clerk to the Honorable John D. Schwartz since September 2001. She has also served as Law Clerk to the Honorable Carol Doyle and to the Honorable Susan Pierson Sonderby during Judge Sonderby’s tenure as Chief Judge. Prior to her government service in the Northern District of Illinois, Ms. Wax practiced law in New York for seven years, first with Dreyer & Traub and then with Cuddy & Feder. She handled commercial litigations, appearing in state and federal courts, including the occasional foray into bankruptcy court, and before arbitration tribunals.
Ms. Wax graduated from Brooklyn Law School and is admitted to practice in New York and Illinois.
Wendy Morris was a Judicial Law Clerk to Judge Jacqueline P. Cox, U.S. Bankruptcy Court, Northern District of Illinois. She has also served as a Law Clerk to the Chief Judge in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court, Northern District of Illinois, where she reported directly to then Chief Judge Eugene Wedoff and was also a Judicial Law Clerk to Chief Judge John T. Thomas, U.S. Bankruptcy Court, Middle District of Pennsylvania. As a Law Clerk, Ms. Morris conducted legal research and analysis and prepared draft opinions and orders on contested litigated matters for a number of bankruptcy judges located in Illinois, Pennsylvania and Delaware.
Ms. Morris is currently an associate with Freeborn & Peters where she focuses her practice in Bankruptcy, Reorganization and Creditors’ Rights. Ms. Morris’ experience includes substantial research on bankruptcy matters and a significant contribution to several published opinions.
Ms. Morris graduated from The John Marshall Law School where she was the recipient of the 2001 American Bankruptcy Institute Medal of Excellence.

Reminder: The room temperature at hotels and other seminar locations are notoriously hard to control. Please bring a sweater or jacket in case it gets cold and/or layer as if you are going to the movies so you are comfortable.
Recording policy: No audio or video recording of any program is permitted.
Seminar Cancellations: Should you be unable to attend for any reason, please inform us in writing no later than 14 days prior to the event and a credit voucher will be issued. If you prefer, a refund, less a $50 non-refundable deposit, will be issued. No refunds or credits will be given for cancellations received within 14 days of an event.
Substitutions may be made at any time.
